Enough
Jul 10, 2026You are enough.
How little we hear
That you being you is all that is necessary here.
It feels like wherever we go,
That we’re not enough.
Judged by others
Compared to peers,
It feels like I’m not enough.
It seems like all my life
I’ve been chasing these words to be said to me.
For someone to hug me in their arms and say
You are enough for me.
And it’s not just me that feels this way
No, I think it’s the world that stands in pain.
Because when I hugged a brother this same way
His tears proved to me the significance of this phrase.
His tears proved to me that we’re all yearning for belonging.
His tears proved to me that beneath the surface most are suffering.
Someone once told me,
You must look beyond the gardens upon one’s heart.
Because the bodies buried below
That’s where the real person starts.
And that cannot be more true
For I know those bodies exist.
Yet the longer they remain
The more importance that phrase elicits.
So why then do we not say those three words enough?
Why does every kid have to fight to hear this stuff.
It’s society that’s tricked you into thinking you’re not enough.
It’s society that’s tricked you into beliving you need to HEAR this stuff.
Because the reality is you can say it to yourself.
That all you have to do is believe if yourself is enough.
Why is it that we need others to validate ourselves?
Who is a stranger to tell me I’m not enough.
I’m proud of who I am
Of the person I’ve become.
So when I got to bed I say,
Nikhil, you are enough.
